Rae Earnshaw/Michael Gigante/Huw Jones (ed.): Virtual relaity systems. Academic Press 1992/93, 330p. £30. Given the widespread interest in VR, this book might seem opportunistic puhlishing. But it is much more than that. The editors have drawn together a collection of excellent level-headed essays and technical case studies that will satisfy those who are looking for a sound grounding in the technology, its applications, challenges and ethics. The contents are very much behind-the-scenes essays, so computer scientists, mathematicians and psychologists will find plenty to get their teeth into. If you are looking for the most up-to-date information on VR, this book does have its limitations, but specialist and enthusiast alike should find that the vibrant terrain within this book is broad and detailed. 5607 Julian Ellison: Review of the book "Virtual reality systems" edited by Earnshaw/Gigante/Jones.
