Queen Pays Tribute to Diana

LONDON (Reuter) - Queen Elizabeth Friday paid tribute to Princess
Diana as an exceptional and gifted human being. 

Speaking in a live television broadcast she said no one who knew the
princess would ever forget her. 

The queen, wearing a black dress and pearl necklace, said: "I want to
pay tribute to Diana myself. She was an exceptional and gifted human
being." 

She added: "I share in your determination to cherish Diana's
memory." 

"May those who died rest in peace and may we, each and every one of
us, thank God for someone who made many, many people happy." 

She said the tragic death of Diana in a car crash in Paris last Sunday
offered "a chance to show the whole world the British nation united
in grief and respect."
