Erreger, die durch beissend-saugende Gliederfuessler uebertragen werden, sind fuer Menschen besonders gefaehrlich, weil die Erreger bei diesen Krankheiten den Patienten nicht schonen muessen. Ebenso sind Erreger, die Monate und Jahre ohne Wirt ueberdauern koennen, oft toedlich (Pocken, Tuberkolose, Diphtherie). Wichtig ist, dass geeignete Massnahmen, die eine fuer den Erreger problemlose Ausbreitung verhindern, im Endeffekt eine Selektion weniger gefaehrlicher Formen zur Folge haben koennen. Das scheint auch auf die beiden Aids-Erreger HIV 1 und HIV 2 zuzutreffen: In Gesellschaften mit seltenen Partnerwechseln haben weniger aggressive, langlebige Varianten einen Selektionsvorteil.
