[ [From the Mensa SIG of Cleveland Freenet] THE MISSION OF MENSA The mission of Mensa is described tersely in the Contitution of International Mensa. It has been interpreted broadly in the United States and results in Mensa serving both a social and a social service funtion. The interests of American Mensa, Ltd., include research, service and encouragement to gifted children, and social activities for its members. The statement below is quoted directly from the Constituion of Mensa as adopted in April 1982. For further details, see the Bylaws of American Mensa and the International Constitution. "Mensa provides a forum for intellectual exchange among members. Its activities include the exchange of ideas by lectures, discussions, journals, special-interest groups, and local, regional, national, and international gatherings; the investigations of members' opinions and attitudes; and assistance to researchers, inside and outside Mensa in projects dealing with intelligence or Mensa."
